Spotify, a leading music streaming platform, is introducing a Basic plan in the United States. This newly introduced tier comes at the same price point as the previous one, $10.99 per month, and delivers similar benefits as the Premium plan, exempting the 15 hours of audiobook accessibility each month. iOS users, due to existing App Store policies, will not be able to switch their Premium plans to Basic through the Spotify app. Instead, they will need to utilize either the desktop site or a mobile browser to make this change.

Basic Family Plan
A recent report by 9To5Google unveiled a new ‘Basic Family' plan costing $16.99. This plan bears many resemblances to the Premium Family subscription, including access to Spotify Kids and parental controls for explicit content. There are some differences, though. Users will not receive up to six Premium or Kids accounts; instead, all will be classified as Basic. Furthermore, similar to the individual Basic plan, the Family plan will not include audiobook listening hours.
Global Expansion
Earlier in the month, Spotify briefly introduced a Basic Individual option in the UK before withdrawing it. Shortly after, the company confirmed that the Basic plan will be available in both the UK and Australia. Spotify is also offering a Basic Duo plan as an alternative to its Premium equivalent, although the pricing details for these additions have not been revealed so far.
Spotify has not shared any updates regarding the much-anticipated HiFi tier, which was mentioned in a recent leak from Bloomberg. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and deliver updates as they become available.
