0

Amazon Music Unlimited has recently adjusted its subscription rates for Prime users. Though the price has seen a slight surge, it still stands as a more economical option compared to Spotify, if you are already an Amazon Prime subscriber. The premium streaming feature of Amazon Music has moved from $8.99/£8.99 to $9.99/£9.99 per month. For the Family plan, the pricing has been increased to $16.99/ £16.99 a month, up from $15.99/ £15.99.

Previous to this, in February, Amazon elevated the charges for Non-Prime users for Music Unlimited, increasing the monthly payment to $10.99/ £10.99. However, even after this adjustment and the recent spike in Spotify's rates, Amazon Music Unlimited remains a sterling option as it costs $1/ £1 less every month compared to Spotify, provided you are a Prime member.

Apple Music $10.99 / £10.99 $16.99 / £16.99 $5.99 / £5.99
Amazon Music Unlimited (non-Prime) $10.99 / £10.99 $16.99 / £16.99 $5.99 / £5.99

Tidal HiFi $10.99 / £10.99 $16.99 / £16.99 $4.99 / £4.99

Following suit many other brands such as Apple Music and Spotify have also recently raised their prices. This leaves the market relatively unchanged, with Amazon Music still being a tad cheaper if bundled with the Prime membership which costs $14.99 / £8.99, or $139 / £95 yearly. However, without other subscriptions, other contenders such as Tidal and Apple Music may have an edge for non-Prime members.

Value proportion of Amazon Music Unlimited?

Amazon Music Unlimited Increases Prime Subscription Cost; Still Offers Better Value than Spotify

Increasing subscription prices seem to have become a recent trend in the music streaming industry with many brands participating in the wave. As a result, most ad-free options have integrated their prices around similar figures. This makes Amazon Music Unlimited one of the late bloomers in the ongoing surge.

Apple Music had already elevated their prices in Nov 2022, Deezer followed them in Oct 2022 and Spotify Premium continued the trail in July this year. In a situation, where you already have an Amazon Prime subscription, Music Unlimited might just be the best option for you in spite of its Mobile app not being as smooth as Apple Music or Spotify. Its massive range of song collection along with its potential to play up to 24-bit/192kHz tracks, absent in Spotify HiFi and also its large collection puts it at a significant advantage.

Amazon Music Unlimited has also incorporated the Dolby Atmos spatial audio feature, giving you access to streaming music in this format on leading Sonos speakers as well as your iOS or Android smartphones. The Amazon Music Unlimited App is a must-try for users interested in high-resolution tracks.
